What is a CTP Green Slip?
A Compulsory Third party or CTP Greenslip protects vehicle owners and drivers who are legally liable for personal injury to any other party in the event of a personal injury claim made against you by other road users.
Do I need a CTP Green Slip?
Yes, by law registering for a CTP Greenslip is compulsory and a condition of motor vehicle registration in NSW or Queensland.
If I travel interstate (outside NSW) am I still covered?
Yes, a Budget Greenslip covers you regardless of where you are in Australia.
What does my CTP Greenslip cover?
Other road users. This includes drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists and pillion passengers. Injuries caused through the use of a trailer.

What is NOT Covered?
You, your property, and other peoples property are not covered.
Budget Greenslips are Agents
Yes, Budget Greenslips are Agents of most NSW CTP insurers, who must comply with the requirements of the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW (MAA). The MAA regulates the NSW CTP insurance industry under the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 No.41.
Can I get a special premium for my fleet for CTP insurance?

Why does the CTP Green slip premium vary between postcodes?
Different postcodes fall into different risk zones according to the Motor Accidents Authority (MAA). The MAA decides what postcode fall into each zone type. Claims experience determine the zones.
Am I covered for CTP if my car is not registered?
No. You are personally liable for any injuries you cause in a motor vehicle accident if it is driven while not registered.
Can I get a CTP refund if I sell my vehicle?
No. Green Slips always stay with the registration on the vehicle. When you sell your car, the ownership of the Green Slip on that vehicle will transfer across to the new owner along with the ownership of the vehicle. The only time a refund can be honoured is if the vehicle is deregistered.
If your vehicle registration has been cancelled, or is now registered interstate, we can issue a refund.
Your refund may take up to 10 days before the refund cheque is processed. We require one of the following to issue a refund:
- A copy of 'Letter of Cancellation' supplied by the RTA, - A copy of interstate registration papers, - A letter from the motor insurer stating the date the vehicle has been written off, or - The original copy of your CTP Green Slip if it has not been used at the RTA.What factors affect my premium?

The MAA was established by NSW Parliament under the Motor Accidents Act 1988. They administer the Green Slip scheme and aim to create a safer environment for road users, better injury management, and ensure the Green Slip remains affordable, efficient, effective and fair.
